Scope and Contents

This collection contains a scrapbook, which has newspaper clippings and pictures of Edward Kavanagh as well as early Catholics and Churches of Maine. Additionally, there is typed and handwritten letters concerning the history of the Catholic Church in Maine. Finally, there are small pictures of churches and historic buildings in Maine. The material ranges in dates from the early 1920s to the 1940s.

Scope and Contents This collection contains a variety of materials including correspondence, photographs and illustrations, writing, booklets, pamphlets, and journals. All materials pertain to Cardinal John Henry Newman in some manner. About half of the collection dates to his lifetime such as his correspodence, writings and photographs of him. Additionally, there is a folder of material pertaining to Thomas Youdan, who attended Cardinal Newman's oratory school. These materials date from 1836-1881....

Scope and Contents This collection consists of correspondence and writings of Jack Deedy and is arranged in four series. The first series contains Deedy’s personal correspondence with Bishop Wright dating from 1951 to 1981. This correspondence, a mixture of handwritten and typed letters, mostly concerned with editorials and newspapers. There are letters from Pittsburg and postcards from when Deedy visited Rome. Notably, the collection holds his papers regarding Vatican II and World Council of Churches assemblies in New Deli and Switzerland. Materials in the collection date from 1930 to 1983.

Scope and Contents This collection documents Rev. McIntyre’s time when he studied at the Canadian College in Rome. The first letters are written on board the ship and continue through his stay and subsequent travels in Florence and Vienna. The letters are filled with his impressions of the city, his duties and studies, college life, and affairs at the Vatican. The collection contains materials collected and used by Rev. Kelly to write the histories and biographies during the course of his career. His work included a history of Mount Saint Mary’s College and a biography on Rev. James Mullen. The collection also includes personal correspondence, and a two volume autobiography written in 1906. There is photographs and images of individuals featured in his writings as well as notes on a biography of Bishop Fenwick of Boston.
