Biographical Note
Robert W. Brady, S.J. was born in Hancock, Maryland on October 16, 1825. After studying at St. John’s College he joined the Jesuit order on August 31, 1843. He taught humanities at Georgetown College from 1845-1847, then at Holy Cross from 1847-1852. He was ordained as a priest in 1857. He became president of Holy Cross in 1867. He left Holy Cross in 1869 to serve as president at Boston College until 1876. He was the Provincial of the Maryland Jesuits from 1877-1882 and returned to Holy Cross to become president a second time from 1883-1887. He became the pastor at Trinity Church at Georgetown, where he died on March 26, 1891.
