Biographical Note

John F. Lehy was born in Royalston, Massachusetts on November 7, 1850. He enrolled at Holy Cross in 1872, but left to join the Jesuit order in 1874. After teaching mathematics, literature, and philosophy at Woodstock College he came back to Holy Cross as a professor of mathematics and French from 1879-1884. He was appointed as the College president in 1895 and was in that role until 1901. He died on November 26, 1918 in Poughkeepsie, New York.
