Scope and Contents

From the Record Group:

This record group documents student organizations at the College throughout its history with the earliest materials dating to 1848. Records of these organizations are arranged into the following eleven series: Academic Organizations; Arts Organizations; Campus Service Organizations; Club Sports and Recreational Organizations; Media Organizations; Multicultural Organizations; Peer Education Organizations; Philanthropic Organizations; Pre-Professional Organizations; Religious Organizations and Special Interest Organizations. Within each series, individual clubs and organizations are arranged in alphabetical order.

Historical Note

The Literary Society was created in 1989 with the intent to unify all students pursuing a major in English and to organize programs for the promotion of the study of English language and literature. The organization held meetings, trivia events, excursions, discussions, poetry contests, and more.
