Historical Note
The Mendel Club of Holy Cross College was founded in the early 1900s with the purpose of sustaining and promoting an interest in biological and medical sciences, connecting current club students with medical alumni, and sponsoring social events. The club was "named in honor of Abbe Mendel, Father of Modern Genetics and Heredity." The organization was also renamed as the Mendel Academy circa 1928 with the purpose of concentrating on academics and removing all social activities previously focused on by the club.
