Scope and Contents
This record group documents student organizations at the College throughout its history with the earliest materials dating to 1848. Records of these organizations are arranged into the following eleven series: Academic Organizations; Arts Organizations; Campus Service Organizations; Club Sports and Recreational Organizations; Media Organizations; Multicultural Organizations; Peer Education Organizations; Philanthropic Organizations; Pre-Professional Organizations; Religious Organizations and Special Interest Organizations. Within each series, individual clubs and organizations are arranged in alphabetical order.

Historical Note
The Sociology Society was founded in 1962 with the purpose of maintaining a chapter of Sociology Honor Society and by introducing Sociology majors to the professionals through visiting experts and research opportunities. The club organized many visiting lecturers and eventially changed names from the Sociology Society to the Sociology Club.
