Scope and Contents
This record group documents student organizations at the College throughout its history with the earliest materials dating to 1848. Records of these organizations are arranged into the following eleven series: Academic Organizations; Arts Organizations; Campus Service Organizations; Club Sports and Recreational Organizations; Media Organizations; Multicultural Organizations; Peer Education Organizations; Philanthropic Organizations; Pre-Professional Organizations; Religious Organizations and Special Interest Organizations. Within each series, individual clubs and organizations are arranged in alphabetical order.

Historical Note
The Outing Club has existed at Holy Cross since cira 1936 with the intent to develop a strong bond of friendship among its members and the student body as a whole by providing sport and recreational facilities, and by promoting social functions. The Group organized activities such as Winter Carnival and later evolved into the Holy Cross Wilderness Outing Club. The group then centered around outdoors trips and activities suggested and planned by the members.
