This record group documents student organizations at the College throughout its history with the earliest materials dating to 1848. Records of these organizations are arranged into the following eleven series: Academic Organizations; Arts Organizations; Campus Service Organizations; Club Sports and Recreational Organizations; Media Organizations; Multicultural Organizations; Peer Education Organizations; Philanthropic Organizations; Pre-Professional Organizations; Religious Organizations and Special Interest Organizations. Within each series, individual clubs and organizations are arranged in alphabetical order.

Historical Note

The Purple Athletic Service Organization began in 1970 with the intent to foster inter-house spirit through all forms of inter-house athletic competition and to ensure all campus athletic facilities will be used to their full potential for the benefit of the student body. The group organized inter-house competitions in sports such as football, basketball, volleyball, and softball while also staffing student athletic facilities.
