Biographical / Historical
Msgr. John Vaughan graduated as the valedictorian for the Class of 1916. He also received a Master of Arts from Holy Cross in 1921. After graduation, Msgr. Vaughan completed his theological studies at St. Bernard's Seminary, Rochester, N.Y. He served as the Assistant Pastor and Pastor at several churches in the Mid-Atlantic states. In 1948, Vaughan was named a Domestic Prelate with the title of Monsignieur by Pope Pius XII. His final position was at St. Paul's Church in Scranton, PA, where he was granted pastor emeritus status in 1971.
