Scope and Contents
The Miller Family Collection holds photographs, ephemera, certificates, and other materials belonging to members of the family. The bulk of the collection are family photographs dating from 1924 to circa 2000. Most are personal snapshots but there are some professional photographs. The bulk of these date between the 1940s and the 1960s and most depict Rev. Francis X. Miller SJ with his friends or with his Jesuits brothers. Additionally, the collection holds some ephemera and memorabilia belonging to the family. This includes yearbooks of Lynch Middle School in Holyoke, Massachusetts dating from 1958 to 1961. Mary Miller Morse was a teacher at the school during those years. There are also Plenary Indulgence Certificates issued to Francis and Isabel Miller as well as Mary Miller Morse in 1958. Finally, some items in the collection pertain to the family’s connection to Holy Cross including the guest book and photographs from Fr. Miller’s Appreciation Night for his service to the College, a commemorative scroll of appreciation presented to Francis L. Miller and Fr. Miller’s class ring dating to 1949.
