This collection contains materials related to Fr. Facey’s work on the Legion of Decency, an organization dedicated to identifying and combating objectionable content in motion pictures. Included in the collection are Fr. Facey’s dissertation notes, notecards, manuscripts and a copy of the dissertation itself.

Biographical Note
Paul William Facey was born on June 8, 1909 in Cambridge, Masschusetts. He graduated of Boston College High School in 1925 and entered the Society of Jesus on July 30, 1925. Fr. Facey was ordained on June 23, 1935. He received his doctorate degree in Sociology from Fordham University in 1945. He taught Sociology for almost thirty years at the College of the Holy Cross and also held the position of department chair. Fr. Facey died on October 10, 1994.
