This record group contains records pertaining to the Counseling Center and Career Planning Office from 1900 to 1998. It is divided into the following four series: Teacher’s Bureau Records, 1900 - 1912; Series 2: Placement Office, 1930-1975; Series 3: Counseling Center, 1961-1972; and Counseling Center and Career Planning Office, 1975-1998.

Historical Note

he origins of the Counseling Center and Career Planning Office date to 1900 when the Teacher’s Bureau was established at the college. This office assisted students with obtaining teaching positions. The Teacher’s Bureau was expanded into the Placement Office in 1930 and the Counseling Center was established in the early 1960s. These offices were merged into one, the Counseling Center and Career Planning Office in the mid 1970s. They were split into separate offices shortly before the 1998-1999 academic year. At this time, the Career Planning Office was moved to the Academic Affairs Division of the college.
