Scope and Contents
Most of the correspondence in the collection is responses to Rev. Fortier concerning the proposed production of “Hecuba” by Holy Cross at the Sesquicentennial exhibition in Philadelphia on September 15 and 16, 1926. There are letters of support from individuals including the mayor of Philadelphia, W. Freeland Kendrick, and the Archbishop of Boston, Cardinal O’Connell. There is a letter written by Rev. Fortier to Congressman Louis A. Frothingham on behalf of A.B. Yaffe to request help to bring Yaffe’s mother to the United States from Lithuania in 1922.
