This collection contains source material collected by Fr. Dunigan for his publication “Early Years at Holy Cross.” Additionally, there are two essays on New England Catholic History by Rev. Louis Walsh, which were found in Fr. Dunigan's papers.

Biographical Note
Rev. David Ronan Dunigan, S.J was born in Lowell, MA on April 14, 1904. He graduated from Boston College High School in 1922. He attended Boston College but left after his first year to enter the Society of Jesus in 1923. Fr. Dunigan studied Philosophy at Boston College and received his MA in Education from St. Louis University. He earned a Ph.D. in Education from Fordham University. He was ordained in 1935. Rev. Dunigan joined the faculty at the College of the Holy Cross in 1949 and also was the Director of the Office of Student Personnel. He is the author of A History of Boston College, which started as his Ph.D. dissertation. Additionally, he wrote many articles on Education. He died in 1961.
