Edward J. Loftus Collection
Scope and Contents
This collection contains manuscripts, incunabula, vellum manuscripts and pages from books of early presses. Among the manuscripts are the French and Dutch Book of Hours, part of an early Bible as well as Venetian and German items. Other items of note include a section of Chaucer’s Canterbury Tales as well as sheet music. Items date from the 15th and 16th centuries.

Historical Note
This collection was given to Dinand Library for the Louise Imogen Guiney Memorial Room in Dinand Library in 1932. It was donated by Edward Loftus in memory of his wife, Esther Lewellyn Lucas Loftus.
