Scope and Contents
This volume contains writings in Gaelic as well as two poems in English written by Patrick Denn. The author of the volume is unclear but it is believed to be Patrick Denn. The poem at the end of the volume is dated July 30, 1816 and there is a notation on the first page in Latin for the College of the Holy Cross. There are approximately 200 pages.

Biographical Note
Patrick Denn, from Coolroe, Ireland, was born in 1756. He was a proscribed hedge schoolmaster, as was his father, Laurence. Denn is recorded as living in Affane in 1800, as well as in Cappoquin. One of his many pupils was Dr. John Power, Bishop of Waterford. Also, Denn taught Christian Doctrine in Irish in the church on Sundays. He wrote a number of books on Christianity including, "Aigneas an Pheacaigleis an Mbas," "Comhairle an Pheacaig agus aitheantha de Minighthe," and "Stiurtatheoir an Pheacaig." Denn died on July 5, 1828, at the age of 72.
