Scope and Contents This collection mostly holds materials documenting the business and political career of John F. Fitzgerald. There are thirty-nine scrapbooks dating from 1896 to 1925 containing newspaper clippings, which mostly document Fitzgerald’s political career. The scrapbooks are in poor condition and this was noted in correspondence dating to when the materials were received. The collection contains records from the wholesale grocery company, Silas Peirce and Company including correspondence, business receipts, order placements and shipping receipts. Additionaly, there are four business ledgers used by the company. Documents pertaining to the breakup of the company may also be found in the collection. Materials date from 1821 to 1955, with the majority dating to the 19th century.
